The St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival (SJIWFF) is the reason I fell in love with St. John’s and moved here. My short film “This Hour Has Seven Decades” screened here in 2005 and I had such a good time at the festival, that I came back for a looksee in 2007, then moved here the following year.
So, I’ve been tickled pink every time I’ve been asked to help out with the festival. Last year I wrote, produced and acted in a series of short funny films on early female filmmaking pioneers. The extraordinary animation was created and directed by Rachel Peters, another fan of SJIWFF.
This year the site was due for a make-over, so I was hired to figure out a redesign strategy for the site.
The original site was built with PHP and had a powerful and robust Content Manageement System. Working with the original programmer at Webworks Inc. and using this year’s design and marketing material created by Waterwerks, we redesigned the site so that it still uses the original framework, but is unrecognizable. The best part – with just a change of 3 graphics the site will be able to match next year’s marketing design.
We also added some nifty functions. There is a new blog feature that allows for the addition of quick posts and updates to the home page, events to the home page footer.
